I come from a time when we were told that big boys don’t cry.
Having lost 4 close friends to suicide, I’m so glad that we no longer dwell in this cave of ignorance.
Suicide is an epidemic in today’s society.
Suicidal thoughts are treatable and suicide itself is fully avoidable, with the correct guidance.

Let me tell you a short story,
A wise old teacher took a walk along the coast in Japan, it was after a Tsunami had washed millions of starfish up onto a beach and then receded leaving the mass of helpless creatures stranded, dying. Despairing, he wondered what could be done.
Coming across a young child who was picking up the starfish one at a time and carrying them back to the surf, the old man smiled.
Stopping he said to the child, “what your doing is admirable but there are millions, and you alone can’t make a difference”.
The child placed one more starfish back into the sea and looked at the wise old man with a confused look and said,
“I made a difference to that one”.
When it comes to life, if we can save even one from suicide, then it’s worth a lifetime’s effort.
